也是耶斯列用心準備的詩歌之一
平常在主日聚會時就常常吟唱
所以也是一首大家非常熟悉的曲子
耶斯列在練習的時候是由 Soprano & Alto 先唱出前 8 小節
將第 5 及第 8 小節中間延長為為七拍的靜默
第 8 拍之後 Tenor & Bass 再一起唱出四部合唱
最後曲末以輕聲慢板結束
整首曲子會吸引聽者的期待感及男聲進來後的磅礡氣勢
是個人非常喜歡的詩歌之一
這首歌詞是 Horatio Spafford 寫的
他於 1871 年喪失獨生子
然後又在芝加哥大火中失去了錢財
1873年
本來計劃要和妻女一同去歐洲
後因臨時有事就讓妻女先去
結果在大西洋航行途中
妻女所搭的船與另一艘船相撞
四個女兒全部喪生 只有妻子存活
這首詩就是在 1876 年去歐洲途中
經過女兒們遇難的地方時所寫的
這首歌陳述了為什麼 Horatio Spafford
在喪失一切時
仍然能說「我心靈得安寧」
很多人在擁有一切時其心靈仍無法得到安寧
這是何等的對比
